So you have decided you want to get professional pictures of your pooch but not sure what is involved in the process? Maybe you are wondering whether your dog has what it takes.

Let me reassure you that we definitely can get images of your best mate.  I have worked with a lot of different dogs ranging in ages from 3 weeks to 18 years, reactive to bouncy and ball obsessed to nervous of everything. We can tailor make the session to make a perfect fit for you and your needs.

After our initial chat I will send you a questionnaire that will help you to think about what artwork you would like to get made up, and it will help me to design our portrait session. We will then organize a time for our consultation phone call.

So if you are ready to make memories of your pet and create the perfect art for your home, then read on!

The Consultation

This is where I really get to know your pooch and what kind of character they are.

Its important to start thinking about what images you would like and what kind of medium you imagine them printed on. This way we can make sure that we really get the results you are after.

We discuss colour schemes, mediums, wall art or albums, and also what kind of pictures you want to get of your pooch to really remember them in their best light.

The Portrait session

This is where the fun begins. Its important to remember, this is going to be an enjoyable experience. We do not want to put you or your pup in any danger and we will not go anywhere that you feel uncomfortable.

After our consultation, we will have decided on the perfect location. I take into consideration your dog’s age and ability, if they need to be away from other dogs (don’t worry, I have owned a reactive pooch before so I can sympathize with anyone who has the same difficuties), if you want beach or forest…or a bit of both. We also discuss what you should wear if you want to be in the pictures (which I do recommend)

I will also give you a list of things to remember to bring including dog toys and water for your pooch!

The session lasts between 1 and 2 hours

Forest Location

Watch this video to get an idea of the types of images we can achieve when we go to this beautiful tree filled location. This is ideal for dogs that struggle in the heat as its entirely in shade.

Beach Location

I take you on a tour of my most common beach location. It gives you an insight into the kinds of images we can achieve for you and your pooch.

The Design and ordering appointment

This is the best and most exciting part!

1 to 2 weeks after the portrait session, we will meet up at my house in Lennox Head. You will get to enjoy the slideshow of images while sipping on some wine and eating chocolates!  We aim to get around 40-50 so you get to choose your favourites.

By then you will most likely have a pretty good idea of what art work you would like to order, but at this point you will get to actually touch and feel some products. This means you can really get a good idea of what the final results will be. I can even create a mock up of your wall with your chosen images.

Behind the scenes

Take a look behind the scenes at a real photoshoot followed by the ordering appointment.

As a side note, whilst I mainly take portraits of dogs, I am happy to do a session with any pets that you might like to make into artwork for your walls. I have experience with cats, horses and also native wildlife like reptiles including snakes, as well as wombats and dingoes. The session might work differently for other animals so just contact me and we can work something out.
