Whilst outdoor photography is a perfect way to capture your pet in their favourite environment, (and lets face it, we have some pretty fantastic scenery in this area) there is something really special about a studio based photograph that stands out from the crowd.
Why Choose Studio Pet Photography?
Its perfect for reactive or elderly dogs.
Going on a location photoshoot can be very stressful for some people. Their dogs can be reactive to other off leash pooches …or they might simply get stressed out or become distracted in different environments. Dogs in their senior years might not be able to walk as far or cope with uneven ground. Maybe you are limited as to how far you can walk too. This is where a studio is the perfect solution. In a studio its only us, and there is no walking around to find new locations. You might want to get make memories of your very young puppy, but they are not yet vaccinated, and so can’t be put in new environments yet.
Weather is not an issue
Being indoors, we can take pictures rain or shine, and at any time of day. The weather is not always perfect, and if you are chasing a beautiful sunrise, it means early wake ups and disappointment if its a cloudy day. If you are limited on time, we can book you in for when it suits you and it won’t get cancelled because of an expected storm.
The perfect backdrop
One of the key advantages of studio pet photography is the controlled environment. Our studio features a pure white background that ensures your pet stands out brilliantly in every shot. While the white background is classic, we also offer a range of different back drops and quirky backgrounds tailored to match each pet’s personality. We can even change the colour in post producation. This versatility allows for a range of creative possibilities that are difficult to achieve in outdoor settings. We can experiment without worrying about distractions from other dogs.

Highlighting Your Pet
The biggest advantage is the controlled lighting and absence of environmental variables, this means that your pet will always be the star of the show. Studio lighting helps highlight the intricate details of your pet’s fur, eyes, and expressions, making each portrait a work of art. This professional setup ensures that the images we create will be both high-quality and timeless. With the right background, your pet will really stand out in very fine detail. These images are impactful and look perfect printed large and bold for an empty wall. You can go for a contemporary look with a plain background, or more traditional with some props and a quirky backdrop. The possibilities are endless and there is a great opportunity for crystal clear closeups.
Temperature is more controlled.
Most dogs are a bit stressed in the heat and may not be comfortable in front of the camera. We have fans in each room, plenty of fresh air, water and a cool concrete floor they can lay out on.

Overcoming Challenges in Studio Pet Photography
Some pets find new environments difficult. If you are unsure how your dog is going to react, we can organise a pre portrait session. You can bring them along and allow them to have a good sniff of the environment, get them used to the new location. We always have treats on hand and you are welcome to bring their favourite toy. I usually suggest that we sit down and have a coffee together and talk about what you would like to get out of the portrait experience. You can look at the prints on the wall and see what kind of artwork you would like for your home. Meanwhile your pet can wander around and sniff all the sniffs without any pressure.

Studio photography offers a unique result that is much harder to reproduce yourself at home. The lighting, backdrops and props mean the pictures are not something that everyone can achieve. It offers a completely different experience with a bold and eye-catching result. If you want art that is really going to pop and make a statement on your wall, look no further.
